Three New Natural Recreation Forests, Forest Bathing Site, and Forest Camping Site to Be Established by 2028
Chungnam Province announced on the 27th that it will invest 16.8 billion KRW to expand differentiated forest recreation and healing infrastructure, allowing residents and tourists to enjoy comfortable rest and healing throughout all four seasons.
The main forest recreation and healing facility expansion project will add six new sites between this year and 2028, including three natural recreation forests, one forest bathing site, one forest camping site, and one children's forest experience center. In addition, improvement projects will be carried out at 17 existing facilities.
The province will invest 4 billion KRW to create new natural recreation forests, with the Gayasan Recreation Forest in Seosan and the Hyangjeoksan Recreation Forest in Gyeryong scheduled for completion by 2026, and Dangjin City aiming for completion by 2028.
Furthermore, 9.2 billion KRW will be invested to improve facilities at 12 existing natural recreation forests located in areas such as Taehaksan, Jumisan, and Seongjusan. In addition, 1.6 billion KRW will be used to create a new forest bathing site at Daemyeongsan in Nonsan, while 550 million KRW will be spent to upgrade facilities at the existing Tugubong Forest Bathing Site in Cheonan.
The newly established forest camping site, with an investment of 1 billion KRW, will be created in Asan by 2026, and a new children's forest experience center will be built in Dangjin with a budget of 100 million KRW.
Through this project, the province plans to establish a foundation for operating various programs such as forest healing and experience activities, as well as cultural events. It will also expand convenience facilities like walking trails and rest areas, making forests more accessible and friendly spaces.
Lee Yonggil, head of the Provincial Forest Recreation Division, said, "With this investment, Chungnam's forest recreation facilities will become even more prestigious healing destinations," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that residents and visitors can enjoy comfortable rest and healing in nature throughout all four seasons."
