Jeonbuk Imsil-gun announced on the 27th that the Okjeongho Cherry Blossom Festival will be held on April 5th and 6th at the plaza in front of Okjeongho Suspension Bridge and at the Bungoe Island Ecological Park area.

This festival, marking the beginning of the "2025 Visit Imsil Year," is the first event aiming to usher in the era of ten million tourists and to elevate Imsil as a premium tourist city. A wide variety of delicious foods and enjoyable activities will be prepared so that many visitors from all over the country can come and enjoy the festivities.

There is growing anticipation for the diverse foods such as Sumeorigukbap, the signature Cheese Bungoe Bread of Bungoe Island, and premium Korean beef sold at newly opened Hanwoo-specialized restaurants nearby. In addition, various experience programs and celebratory performances featuring famous trot singers are expected to delight visitors.

The county expects a large number of tourists to visit Okjeongho on these days and is thoroughly preparing by focusing on addressing traffic issues and enhancing the food booths. Through these efforts, Imsil-gun hopes to further spread its brand image as a year-round festival destination, and especially to promote the status of the Okjeongho Cherry Blossom Festival, Suspension Bridge, and Bungoe Island Ecological Park as must-visit attractions both domestically and internationally.

Expectations are particularly high for the opening day of the festival. On Saturday, April 5th, the opening ceremony will feature a lineup of popular trot singers, including Son Taejin, who is well-known for his trot radio show "Burning Trotman," Kim Dahyun, a young gugak prodigy and trot fairy, as well as rising stars Yang Jiweon and Miss Trot’s Kang Hyeyeon, all set to provide great enjoyment for festival visitors.

Starting with the celebratory performances, a variety of shows will take place, including a congratulatory performance by the Imsil Pilbong Nongak troupe. On Sunday, there will be a singing contest in collaboration with the Imsil Entertainers Association and a line dance competition featuring local residents, among other diverse programs.

The highlight of the Okjeongho Cherry Blossom Festival is the 10-kilometer cherry blossom road lined with trees over 20 years old, stretching from Unam-myeon to Guksabong. The Okjeongho Circular Road is well known as one of the "100 Most Beautiful Roads in Korea" selected by the Korea Tourism Organization, and every spring, it becomes a famous driving destination as countless people visit to enjoy the cherry blossom-covered path.

At the festival, visitors can enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms of Okjeongho, the charm of Bungoe Island, and the scenic views while crossing the Suspension Bridge. Walking around Okjeongho, where cherry blossoms are in full bloom during the festival, is expected to create unforgettable memories for all visitors. The Okjeongho Suspension Bridge and Bungoe Island Ecological Park will reopen on the 1st of next month, and from next month through April, a pilot program will allow visitors to bring their pets to the Okjeongho Suspension Bridge and Bungoe Island Ecological Park.

Governor Shim Min said, "The cherry blossom festival, which received much love last year, is returning for a second time this year to repay that affection," and added, "As this is the first festival of the Visit Imsil Year, we are preparing even more attractions and foods to further enhance visitor satisfaction."
