Gyeonggi Province will hold the 106th anniversary of the March 1st Movement commemorative ceremony at the Suwon Convention Center on the 1st of next month.

About 500 people, including Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon, members of the Liberation Association, and heads of veterans' organizations, will attend the ceremony.

At the event, the oldest patriot in the province, Mr. Oh Seong-gyu (102 years old), Mr. Ahn Hong-soon (88 years old), the eldest son of independence activist Ahn Yong-gap, Mr. Kim Ho-dong (67 years old), head of the Gyeonggi Branch of the Liberation Association and grandson of independence activist Kim Jong-jin, Ms. Lee Jeong-yoon (35 years old), great-granddaughter of democracy and unification activist Baek Ki-hwan, and Ms. Choi Soo-ah (12 years old), great-great-granddaughter of independence activist Ahn Jung-geun, will read sequentially representing the 1st to 5th generations.

In addition, video messages from descendants of independence patriots living overseas in Kazakhstan, Australia, the United States, China, and other countries will be introduced, and video interviews will also be conducted.

At the venue, an independence movement experience exhibition utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and three-dimensional (3D) hologram technology will be prepared, and the AI independence movement film "1919: Beyond Time," directed by Kwon Han-seul, which won the grand prize at last year's Dubai International AI Film Festival, will be screened.

The event will conclude with the musical "Hero," featuring independence activist Ahn Jung-geun as the main character, followed by the three cheers for independence and the singing of the March 1st Movement song.

Kim Sang-soo, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Autonomous Administration Bureau, said, "Through this March 1st Movement commemorative event, we plan to create an opportunity to spread the spirit of the independence movement to the present and future," adding, "We hope the message that independence is not a story of the past but a practice that changes today will spread widely."

As part of this year's 80th anniversary of Liberation Day commemorative projects, Gyeonggi Province has selected 80 independence activists from the province and will sequentially reveal them from the March 1st Movement Day to Liberation Day on August 15.
