People Power Party Confirms Bae Nak-ho's Nomination for Gimcheon Mayor By-election People Power Party Candidate Bae Nak-ho for Mayor of Gimcheon

The People Power Party's Gyeongbuk Provincial Party Committee Nomination Management Committee (Chairman Gu Ja-geun) held a meeting on the 26th and announced the results of the primaries for the basic local government head (Kimcheon mayor) and basic council members (Goryeong-gun Dasan and Seongsan-myeon) electoral districts. This primary was conducted by reflecting both interview assessments and general public opinion surveys.

According to the Nomination Management Committee, during the primary process, candidate Bae Nak-ho emphasized his administrative experience and community-oriented pledges, highlighting his distinctiveness from competing candidates. In particular, he stressed that, based on his experience as chairman of the Kimcheon City Council, he is the right person to lead Kimcheon's administrative stability and sustainable development.

After his nomination was confirmed, candidate Bae Nak-ho stated, "I will do my best to meet the expectations of Kimcheon citizens," and added, "I will implement practical policies to promote the development of Kimcheon and improve the quality of life for its citizens."

For the Goryeong-gun council by-election (Goryeong-gun Dasan and Seongsan-myeon), former Dasan-myeon Village Chief Association Chairman Na Young-wan was selected as the candidate. Candidate Na is putting forward the development of the Dasan-myeon community and the enhancement of residents' welfare as his main pledges.

This April 2 by-election is being held following the nullification of former Kimcheon Mayor Kim Chung-seop's election due to a violation of the Public Official Election Act. Accordingly, local community interest in the election results is increasing, and attention is focused on whether the People Power Party can retain the Kimcheon mayoral seat. The elected candidate will serve as mayor for approximately 1 year and 2 months until the next local election.

The upcoming election schedule includes candidate registration from March 13 to 14, followed by the official election campaign starting on March 20. The main election will be held on April 2, and there is growing interest in the impact this election result will have on the future political landscape of the Kimcheon region.
