The 8th Youth Policy Committee Launched
This Year’s Youth Policy Deliberated Together with Youth
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the 8th Youth Policy Committee appointment and the Changwon City Youth Policy Committee meeting on the 26th to review the "2025 Youth Policy Implementation Plan."
The 'Changwon City Youth Policy Committee' is a deliberative and decision-making body for the basic and implementation plans of youth policy, now in its 8th term this year. It consists of ex officio members and 25 appointed youth members, playing a vital role in facilitating youth participation in city administration and establishing a foundation for youth policy promotion.
The meeting proceeded with the awarding of appointment letters, election of co-chairpersons and vice-chairpersons, review of the 2025 Youth Policy Implementation Plan, and policy proposals.
The '2025 Youth Policy Implementation Plan' envisions "a city where youth can grow and want to stay," promoting 76 projects across five major policy areas including jobs and education. The total project budget is 49.6 billion KRW, an increase of 9.7 billion KRW (24%) compared to the previous year.
New projects this year include △Establishment of Innovation Academy (7.5 billion KRW), Operation of Software-Centered University (4 billion KRW), and Establishment of Basic Youth Housing Plan (150 million KRW), among 19 projects with a total of 13.9 billion KRW allocated, focusing on strengthening youth job and education support and securing housing stability.
Additionally, 14 opinions were collected in youth policy proposals, including support for youth farmers’ housing utilizing vacant houses, strengthening support for culture and content industries, and increasing youth support budgets. These will be actively reviewed for future incorporation into city administration.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “The city will actively support the challenges and growth of youth to help realize their dreams and hopes. Based on the implementation plan confirmed at this committee, we will do our best to successfully promote youth policies and achieve tangible results that youth can feel.”
