Gwangju Police to Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Motorcycle Activities Ahead of March 1st Independence Movement Day

From February 28 to March 1
Late-night sobriety checks at major intersections
Ongoing crackdown on Automobile Management Act violations such as illegal modifications

The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency and the Gwangju Autonomous Police Committee will deploy around 130 personnel, including traffic police and the traffic crime investigation team, to conduct a focused crackdown on illegal motorcycle activities throughout Gwangju for two days from February 28 to March 1.

According to the Gwangju police on the 26th, this operation is a preemptive measure to prevent reckless and dangerous driving ahead of the March 1st Independence Movement Day. The crackdown will take place at major intersections and expected gathering spots during late-night hours, in conjunction with sobriety checks.


Additionally, for violations of the Automobile Management Act such as illegal motorcycle modifications, ongoing crackdowns will be conducted in cooperation with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority and local governments.


A Gwangju police official stated, "We urge motorcycle riders to comply with traffic laws in order to ensure citizen safety and establish an advanced traffic culture."
