Gwangju Emergency Action: "Yoon, Destroyer of the Constitution, Must Be Unanimously Removed"

The Gwangju Emergency Action for the Resignation of the Yoon Suk Yeol Administration and Major Social Reform urged the Constitutional Court on the 26th to immediately dismiss President Yoon Suk Yeol. They demanded a prompt decision on the impeachment trial, stating, "Dismiss Yoon Suk Yeol, the destroyer of the Constitution, unanimously."

In a statement released on the 26th, Gwangju Emergency Action declared, "Stop this incompetent and dangerous individual from threatening Korean democracy and dragging the nation backward."

They went on to criticize, "What he did in his final argument was to turn the Constitutional Court into a stage for inciting rebellion, clinging to the futile hope of returning to the presidency with lies and delusions until the very end. The impeachment trial, which went through 11 sessions, concluded without the reflection or apology the public expected."

They further argued, "In a situation where he sees the majority of citizens as spies, who exactly is he appealing to? Is he referring to his so-called 'enlightened' attorneys who continued the farce with lies and curses, the far-right insurrectionist forces, and the People Power Party, which supported the rebellion?"

Gwangju Emergency Action emphasized, "Yoon Suk Yeol, who staged a loyalist coup to maintain his power and trampled on democracy and the constitutional order, cannot remain in office for even a single day. He is simply someone who could commit a second or third rebellion at any time."

They added, "Through 11 impeachment trial sessions, the unconstitutional and illegal nature of the martial law declaration has been fully confirmed, and there is more than enough reason to dismiss Yoon Suk Yeol. He even admitted that he personally ordered the unconstitutional deployment of martial law troops to the National Election Commission."

In conclusion, they asserted, "The only path left for Yoon Suk Yeol, who has betrayed the people's trust, is dismissal. The Constitutional Court must swiftly remove Yoon Suk Yeol and restore constitutional order."
