Partial Road and Parking Lot Closures Due to Restoration Work
Hongseong County in Chungnam Province announced that it will begin the restoration and maintenance project for the missing sections of the fortress walls of Hongjueupseong in earnest starting in March.
The county plans to start construction in March to restore and maintain the fortress wall sections from Joyangmun to the east wall of the North Gate, which was restored in 2023, as well as from the North Gate to the former Information Education Center, with completion scheduled by September 2026.
The county will also begin an excavation survey in March for the section from Joyangmun to the Nonghyup Ogwan Branch, aiming to complete it before the end of July.
Accordingly, part of Small Road 3-13 (Ogwan-ri 411-2 area), which is included in the restoration and maintenance section of the northeastern fortress wall within Hongjueupseong, will be permanently closed, and the temporary parking space created around Joyangmun in November last year will also be closed.
Additionally, to obtain basic data for academic research and detailed design for the restoration and maintenance of the missing fortress walls, part of Small Road 3-15 (Ogwan-ri 411-2 area), which is included in the excavation survey section on the southeastern fortress wall, will be temporarily closed until the end of April.
Kim Taegi, head of the Culture and Tourism Division, said, "As some existing roads and temporary parking spaces within Hongjueupseong will inevitably be closed due to the fortress restoration and maintenance work and excavation survey, we ask for the understanding of residents even if there is some inconvenience in traffic."
