“Nurturing Sensitivity and Creativity Through Culture and the Arts”
The Busan Western Office of Education will operate the ‘Western Live∼Culture and Arts Tong’ program for 396 elementary and middle school classes in the western region from March 31 to December 12.
‘Western Live∼Culture and Arts Tong’ involves professional instructors from local art-related institutions and organizations visiting schools to conduct classes (one session, three periods). Through this, the plan is to provide students with opportunities to experience culture and the arts.
This year, 14 art programs will be offered, including Korean traditional music (Gugak), theater, musicals, media, fine arts, music, dance, choir, as well as film reading (appreciation and production) and Dadaepo Hurisori, which reflect the unique characteristics of the western region.
The program focuses on cultivating students’ artistic sensitivity and enhancing creativity and expressive abilities. It also helps improve emotional stability and self-esteem through various artistic activities and fosters collaboration and communication skills. In particular, by operating programs that reflect regional characteristics, it is designed to help students understand the value of our local culture and develop pride in it.
Education Superintendent Lee Jaehan said, “Through the ‘Western Live∼Culture and Arts Tong’ program, I hope students in the western region can become more familiar with the arts and develop creative expression skills,” adding, “Our education support office will continue to support the cultivation of students’ sensitivity and creativity and the revitalization of cultural and arts education.”
