Discussion of Key Issues and Strategic Projects

Gumi City in Gyeongbuk is accelerating efforts to resolve local issues by strengthening cooperation with members of the National Assembly, aiming to secure 980 billion KRW in national funding.

After discussing major issues and government policy directions, including national projects, they clenched their fists and cheered for success.

On the 24th, the 'Gumi City National Assembly Members Meeting' held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building was attended by National Assembly members Gyu Ja-geun and Kang Myung-gu, Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho, and about 30 key officials.


At this meeting, they discussed major local issues and government policy directions, including new projects identified at the 2026 National Investment Budget Strategy Report and ongoing national funding projects.


The key local issues discussed that day included ▲ Establishment of a cultural brand industrial complex ▲ Construction of a connecting bridge for Gumi National Industrial Complex District 13 ▲ Construction of the Republic of Korea History Museum (Gumi Industrial History Museum) ▲ Construction of the Gimcheon-Gumi New Airport railway ▲ Establishment of Donggumi Station on the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Line (Seodaegu-Uiseong) ▲ Hosting Design Korea 2026 ▲ Creation of a carbon-neutral leading city ▲ Establishment of a national food tech cluster.


Major projects for securing national funding included ▲ Creation of a small and strong smart city ▲ Construction of the National Youth Digital Integrated Support Center ▲ Establishment of a digital healthcare platform for pregnant women ▲ Construction of a testbed for semiconductor wafer process equipment materials and components ▲ Comprehensive maintenance of flood and water damage living zones in the Dogae district ▲ Establishment of a ready-meal manufacturing and packaging demonstration support center ▲ Establishment of a pet tech industrialization support center ▲ Construction of the 2nd comprehensive childcare center.


Members of the National Assembly emphasized the necessity of advancing each project and called for strengthened cooperation with relevant ministries. They particularly stressed the importance of strategic responses and swift progress aligned with the government’s budget formulation schedule.


Mayor Kim Jang-ho of Gumi stated, “We will continue thorough preparations and close cooperation with National Assembly members to secure the maximum national funding for next year,” adding, “We will closely analyze the trends of each project according to the government’s budget formulation schedule and make every effort to revitalize the local economy.”
