Engine Noise During Takeoff... Jin Air Heading to Japan Makes Emergency Return from Busan Jin Air

According to Jin Air on the 25th, flight LJ371 (HL8242), which departed from Busan Gimhae International Airport at 8:10 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Okinawa, Japan, returned after 1 hour and 17 minutes due to abnormal engine noise after takeoff.

The passenger plane, which departed about 35 minutes later than scheduled due to aircraft connection delays (continuous delays), took off around 8:39 a.m. However, a loud noise was heard from the engine during takeoff.

The aircraft that decided to return circled over Geoje Island to burn fuel due to landing weight restrictions and landed at Gimhae International Airport around 9:56 a.m.

Passengers said, "Several explosions were heard from the engine during takeoff." Some passengers reportedly claimed to have witnessed flames near the wings while in the air.

There were 183 people on board the aircraft, including passengers, pilots, and six crew members. No injuries occurred in this incident.

A Jin Air official explained, "A noise was detected from the engine during the takeoff phase, and although there was no abnormality on the instruments, the decision was made to return for safety."
