Jangseon Jeong Vows to Make Every Effort for Successful Opening of International School
On the 25th, Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has begun formal negotiations with four overseas schools to attract Godeok International School.
Earlier, the city publicly recruited preliminary negotiation candidates in May last year to attract an international school to be established on the Edu Town site in Godeok New Town, receiving establishment and operation plans from 17 foreign school corporations. Last month, a selection committee composed of external experts selected four schools located in the United States and the United Kingdom as the priority negotiation group. A city official explained, "The four schools currently in negotiation are recognized worldwide for their curricula and educational achievements and are evaluated as excellent educational institutions."
The city plans to pursue "simultaneous negotiations" with the four schools included in the priority negotiation group. To this end, last week, a negotiation team from one school, including the chairman of the board and the headmaster, visited the city to assess the conditions for establishing the international school and negotiate the terms of attraction. The city plans to directly meet and negotiate with the remaining three school negotiation teams next month.
Jangseon Jeong, mayor of Pyeongtaek City, said, "During the simultaneous negotiation process, we will actively explain the advantages of Pyeongtaek and make every effort to ensure the successful opening of the international school."
