Lee Jun-seok Attends 'JUNSTONE YEAR ONE' Premiere
On Myung Tae-gyun Risk: "What I Said Has Been Proven True"
Lee Jun-seok, a member of the Reform New Party, said on the 24th, "If there is an early presidential election, we will show an overwhelming newness that makes people say, 'So this is how a presidential election can be conducted.'"
Lee made these remarks while attending the screening of his documentary film 'JUNSTONE YEAR ONE' at a movie theater in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the same day.
He explained, "It seems like there is no election I haven't experienced," adding, "I have realized one message that runs through elections. The way to overcome disadvantages is to show overwhelming newness through the process and intermediate means."
Regarding recent allegations related to Myung Tae-gyun involving ruling party presidential candidates, he said, "The controversy has been ongoing for nearly four months, and most of what I said has turned out to be true," adding, "Everything I spoke truthfully has been proven, and I answered that I do not know about matters beyond my knowledge."
He continued, "Unlike the situation where the game was manipulated and pushed as if someone wished to be involved as a kind of rainmaking ritual, the facts are now being revealed," emphasizing, "The public is now looking at the facts in this matter. They will trust Lee Jun-seok, who knew about this issue from the beginning and testified."
Regarding the film depicting his political journey, he said, "At the time of making the film, I did not know whether I would be portrayed positively until the end or if it would be a sad ending while confronting the president early in his term," adding, "Given the atmosphere then, Lee Jun-seok, entering politics at a young age, could have retired early before turning 40."
He added, "Since it is a work made with the thought of leaving a record whether the ending goes downwards or upwards during difficult times, it may not be a glorified work," and said, "It is expressed as it is."
He also said, "If there is a lot of support this time, a sequel will come out," adding, "I hope the ending of that sequel will also be a happy ending that we can be satisfied with."
The film 'JUNSTONE YEAR ONE' captures about a year of activities from when Lee, who resigned as the leader of the People Power Party, started educational volunteering for low-income children in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do in March 2023, to founding the Reform New Party last year and running for and winning the 22nd general election in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do.
