Chungnam Provincial Council Special Personnel Committee Reviews Abilities and Qualifications
Former 20th National Assembly Member and Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Presidential Office
Jeon Heekyung, the candidate for Director of the Chungnam Research Institute, received a qualified verdict from the Special Personnel Hearing Committee of the Chungnam Provincial Council (Chairman: Ahn Jonghyuk).
On the afternoon of the 24th, the Special Personnel Committee of the Chungnam Provincial Council held the second personnel hearing at the council and reviewed the abilities and qualifications of Jeon Heekyung, who was recommended by the Chungnam Governor as the candidate for Director of the Chungnam Research Institute, ultimately giving a final verdict of 'qualified.'
During this personnel hearing, there were in-depth questions regarding the candidate's research suitability, plans for managing the institute, and policy vision. While some committee members raised concerns about Jeon’s alleged violations of research ethics and political bias, Jeon provided clear explanations and expressed a strong willingness to make improvements.
Based on Jeon's clear explanations and expressed commitment to improvement, the Special Personnel Committee recognized the candidate's expertise and suitability for managing the institute, and finalized the review with a qualified verdict.
Jeon Heekyung has previously served as Policy Team Leader at the Korea Economic Research Institute, as a member of the 20th National Assembly, and as the Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Presidential Office.
Ahn Jonghyuk, Chairman of the Special Personnel Committee of the Chungnam Provincial Council (Cheonan 3, People Power Party), said, “We expect Jeon Heekyung to present a future vision for the Chungnam Research Institute and achieve research innovation based on her extensive experience in public policy. We urge her to develop thorough improvement measures for the issues pointed out by the committee and ensure that the Chungnam Research Institute faithfully fulfills its role as the think tank for the provincial government.”
Meanwhile, the personnel hearing for the candidate for Director of the Chungnam Research Institute began on the 14th at the request of the governor. After the first and second meetings, a personnel hearing report containing the qualified verdict was adopted and will be delivered to the governor, who will review the report and proceed with the appointment.
