The March 1st Movement in Yeongsan-myeon began when a group of 23 members read a resolution at Namsan Peak, spreading throughout Yeongsan-myeon and reaching Changnyeong-eup. They fought against Japanese colonial rule with bare hands, carrying out independence activities, and this event is regarded as the first spark of the independence movement in the Gyeongnam region.

County Governor Seong Nakin said, "Samil Manse-gil is not just a road name, but a historic path imbued with the passionate cries and footsteps of our ancestors striving for independence," adding, "Through the establishment of this road name, we hope many people will remember the shouts of that day."
