Pilot Launch of Visit Seoul’s ‘Travel Planner’ Service
Personalized Seoul Tourism Information Using Generative AI
Multi-language Support and Concierge-style Recommendations for Foreign Tourists
The Seoul Tourism Foundation (CEO Gil Gi-yeon) announced on the 24th that it has pilot-launched the Visit Seoul travel planner service utilizing generative AI to provide customized Seoul tourism information to foreign tourists.
Designed as an AI chatbot, this service generates reliable answers based on 30,000 data points from Visit Seoul, the official Seoul tourism information website, offering information in Korean, English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese.
The Visit Seoul travel planner service acts as a concierge specialized in Seoul tourism, featuring an ‘integrated search’ function that makes it easy to find various tourism information held by Visit Seoul such as ‘attractions, restaurants, performances, and shopping,’ as well as providing information on ‘ongoing exhibitions, performances, festivals, and events’ and ‘user-customized itinerary recommendations.’
The foundation plans to expand the operating platform within the year and extend foreign language services to include Russian, Malay, and others to offer the official service. It can be accessed by downloading the official Seoul tourism platform Visit Seoul app.
Lee Yun-hwa, head of the Smart Tourism Team at the Seoul Tourism Foundation, stated, “With the introduction of the Visit Seoul generative AI chatbot, it has become possible to provide personalized conversational services specialized in tourism, beyond simple Q&A and including itinerary recommendations. We will strive to support a more convenient and satisfying travel experience throughout the entire process of visiting Seoul for overseas tourists.”
