Three Sites Selected This Year; Improving Outdated Residential Environments

Jeollanam-do will newly implement the "Jeollanam-do Designated Heritage Landscape Improvement Project" starting this year to establish a future-oriented foundation for the protection of provincial designated heritage that coexists and prospers with local residents. This project aims to support the improvement of residential environments in areas where residents live within provincial designated heritage sites.

The purpose of this project is to support the improvement of outdated residential environments in areas designated as provincial heritage where residents currently live.

In the first year of the project, as a preparatory stage for efficient implementation, three project sites will be selected through a public offering by local governments.

Each selected site will receive 75 million KRW, which will be used to establish standards for improving the residential environment.

Afterward, the main project budget will be finalized according to guidelines (instructions/detailed design, etc.), and the full-scale Jeollanam-do Designated Heritage Landscape Improvement Project will be carried out.

Kang Hyoseok, Director of the Department of Cultural Prosperity of Jeollanam-do, said, "Until now, residents living within provincial designated heritage sites have faced many difficulties due to restrictions such as building regulations," and added, "We hope that this project will enrich the lives of residents and contribute to regional development."
