Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province is conducting the 'Hwaseong Independence Movement Major Sites Revitalization Citizen Contest' to widely promote the history of the Hwaseong independence movement and preserve its historical value in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.
This contest aims to introduce and promote major sites of the Hwaseong independence movement, such as Songsan Independence Movement Village, Hwaseong March 1st Movement Manse-gil, and Balan Manse Street. Applications are accepted through the Local Subsidy Management System (Botaem e) until the 21st of next month. Non-profit corporations or private organizations capable of conducting projects in Hwaseong City are eligible to participate. Individual participation is not allowed.
There are no restrictions on the type of project, and citizens can directly propose projects they believe are necessary for revitalizing independence movement sites. Detailed information can be found on the Hwaseong City Hall website or the Local Subsidy Management System.
The total project budget is 20 million KRW, with a maximum support fund of 10 million KRW per implementing organization. The specific amount of support will be determined based on the number of selected organizations and the results of the project plan evaluation.
Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, stated, "This contest is a meaningful project where citizens directly participate to reflect on the historical significance of the Hwaseong independence movement and enhance pride as Hwaseong Special City citizens," urging active participation from the public.
