97% of All Stores Certified
99.2% Achieved the Highest Grade
Starbucks Korea announced on the 24th that it has recorded the highest food establishment hygiene rating certification rate in the industry.
According to the 'Food Establishment Hygiene Rating Status' announced by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) on the 14th, Starbucks received hygiene rating certification for 1,945 stores, accounting for 97% of the total 2,009 stores. Among them, 1,930 stores, representing 99.2%, achieved the highest grade of 'Excellent.'
Starbucks Korea has achieved the highest certification rate for the restaurant hygiene rating system in the industry.
The food establishment hygiene rating system is a program implemented by the MFDS since 2017 to help consumers make safe choices and to improve the overall hygiene level of the domestic dining industry. It evaluates the hygiene status of food establishments and assigns grades such as 'Excellent,' 'Good,' and 'Fair.'
Starbucks is currently undergoing the certification process for stores that have not yet received the hygiene rating certification due to reasons such as new openings. The goal is for all stores to obtain the food establishment hygiene rating certification.
Hyunsook Park, Quality Manager at Starbucks Korea, said, "Starbucks has been practicing a high level of system and supervision with the mindset of never compromising on hygiene and food safety," adding, "We will continue to develop our hygiene management system so that Starbucks can establish itself as a brand that customers can trust and use with confidence."
