Based on the Theme of 'Reflection, Stability, Reform'
To Be Reported to Party Leadership Soon
The People Power Party's Special Strategy Planning Committee has decided to prepare a party-level response strategy in case the impeachment trial against President Yoon Seok-yeol is dismissed.
Jo Jeong-hoon, chairman of the Special Strategy Committee, told reporters after the 7th meeting held at the National Assembly on the 21st, "The Constitutional Court's decision will be made soon, and we discussed how the political situation will move if the impeachment is dismissed and what preparations the People Power Party should make."
The Special Strategy Committee plans to prepare a strategic report based on the theme of 'Reflection, Stability, Reform.' The specific contents will be reported to the party leadership soon.
The report is being prepared only in the event of dismissal of the impeachment. Chairman Jo said, "If it is upheld, a presidential election must be held in reality," adding, "Rather than us preparing, we need to prepare for how the Democratic Party will respond if it is dismissed."
He also stated, "The President strongly criticized the Constitutional Court's trial procedure but said he would accept the result. The Democratic Party has never said they would accept the result if it is dismissed," urging them to clarify their position.
Meanwhile, the Special Strategy Committee is conducting weekly seminars throughout February under the theme 'Where Should the People Power Party Go?' to discuss the party's future. Previously, they invited former National Assembly Speaker Kim Hyung-o and Professor Shin Yul of Myongji University to hear their suggestions. They plan to hold seminars with party district chiefs, journalists, and the 2030 youth demographic next.
