According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 19th, the minimum temperature on the following morning is expected to range from minus 13 degrees to minus 2 degrees Celsius, and the maximum daytime temperature will be between 0 and 7 degrees Celsius. In areas under cold wave warnings, including northern and eastern Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous regions of Gangwon, Chungbuk, and northern inland and northeastern mountainous areas of Gyeongbuk, morning temperatures will be around minus 10 degrees Celsius. The wind will make the wind chill temperature even lower.
The cold wave is attributed to the cold air moving southward from the northwest. In some inland areas where snow has accumulated, melted snow during the day may freeze at night, so caution is advised for icy roads and similar conditions.
Most of the country will be generally clear, but the western coast of Chungnam, Jeolla region, and Jeju Island are expected to have occasional clouds.
Dryness warnings are expected to be issued for the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Province, Daejeon, Chungbuk, eastern Jeonnam, and the Gyeongsang region. The wind is cold and dry, so the atmosphere will remain dry for the time being.
Strong winds with gusts around 55 km/h (around 70 km/h in mountainous areas) are expected across most regions nationwide. A strong wind warning has been issued for the coastal areas of Jeonnam. Winds are expected to blow strongly with gusts exceeding 70 km/h until tonight.
