Suseong Webtoon Subsidiary Develops Wafer Board for HBM4... Preparing for Quality Testing

Suseong Webtoon announced on the 19th that its subsidiary, Future Hightech, has succeeded in developing a wafer motherboard (WMB) for HBM4, following the development of a WMB for HBM3E.

Future Hightech is currently supplying WMBs for HBM3E to major domestic corporations, and the WMB for HBM4 is undergoing quality testing (QT). The company is further strengthening its competitiveness in the semiconductor testing equipment market.

A wafer motherboard is one of the key devices in the semiconductor manufacturing process that connects the electrical signals of the wafer to the tester’s head to determine whether the wafer is defective. As the HBM market rapidly grows, the importance of this equipment is increasing.

Suseong Webtoon recognized the high growth potential of Future Hightech’s DRAM division in 2021. To diversify its business, it acquired shares and incorporated the company as a subsidiary. Future Hightech has expanded its business area by succeeding in the development of WMBs for DDR5 and then for HBM. In November last year, it secured orders worth approximately 9.1 billion KRW from a major domestic semiconductor corporation, marking the start of significant sales growth.

A representative from Suseong Webtoon stated, "Since Future Hightech has succeeded in developing the WMB for HBM4, we expect large-scale orders to follow once quality testing is completed," adding, "From January this year, the sales growth rate has doubled compared to the same period last year." They also added, "There is a high possibility of exceeding this year’s targets of 25 billion KRW in sales and 4.5 billion KRW in operating profit."

The HBM market is rapidly expanding alongside the growth of AI semiconductors and high-performance computing (HPC) markets. Future Hightech holds various products not only including WMBs but also PCBs for probe cards and interposers, which are key components in semiconductor inspection processes.

By developing the WMB for HBM4, Future Hightech has further strengthened its competitiveness in the global semiconductor testing equipment market. It is expected to expand cooperation with domestic and international major semiconductor corporations.
