Denial of MBC's "Collusion Allegations" Report
Seoul City Announces Legal Action Against False Claims
Oh Se-hoon Emphasizes Severed Ties with Myung Tae-gyun
The office of Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon has denied reports alleging collusion with political broker Myung Tae-gyun and announced plans for legal action.
Lee Jong-hyun, Seoul City’s Public Communication Special Advisor, stated in a press release on the night of the 18th, "MBC maliciously edited and pieced together footage to falsely report that then-candidate Oh Se-hoon relied on Myung Tae-gyun, stirring public opinion under the guise of an exclusive report. We will hold them fully legally accountable for damaging personal honor and spreading false information."

MBC reported suspicions of collusion, claiming that even after Mayor Oh severed ties with Myung, he continued to use public opinion poll results from the 'Future Korea Research Institute' as 'card news' during the by-election unification process. The Future Korea Research Institute is known to have been effectively operated by Myung.
In response, Special Advisor Lee explained, "The issue related to Myung Tae-gyun so far concerns an unpublished poll that not even the recipients received, which caused controversy. The 'published polls' reported by MBC today are accessible for anyone to cite," adding, "It is common practice to promote candidates by citing various polls reported in the media during the unification process."
Earlier, Mayor Oh also mentioned legal action regarding reports that he held a 'three-party meeting' with Myung and Kim, who is known as a supporter of Mayor Oh. Through Facebook, Mayor Oh expressed, "I strongly regret that Myung Tae-gyun’s groundless false claims are being reported as facts," and added, "I will hold legally accountable both Myung’s lawyer, who broadcasts the exaggerated lies of a braggart swindler without logic or concrete evidence, and the media that reported these claims as facts."
Mayor Oh has consistently emphasized that he met Myung through an introduction by former lawmaker Kim Young-sun but severed ties after identifying problems with the first test poll and driving him away.
