'Centum Stage Up' Design Selected as Winner
Sophisticated and Neat Facade
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) has selected the winning design for the ‘Game Convergence Space Construction Project’ being promoted within the Centum City General Industrial Complex.
The Game Convergence Space Construction Project involves building game content infrastructure and game industry support facilities in the region. It is a lease-type entrusted development project in which Busan City entrusts BMC with the development and lease management of public land.
BMC received a total of seven submissions in the design competition held from October last year to January this year. After two days of judging from February 11 to 12, the joint entry ‘Centum Stage Up’ by Gil Architectural Office, Yuseon Engineering Architectural Office, and Samhyeon Urban Comprehensive Architectural Office was selected as the final winner.
‘Centum Stage Up’ was submitted with the concept of ‘a vibrant dream where members with diverse imaginations gather, interact, and create great results together.’ The judges evaluated the winning design as having a sophisticated and neat facade, excellent spatial flexibility, and office spaces that faithfully fulfill the original functions of a knowledge industry center.
Additionally, the design fully incorporates eco-friendly elements such as intelligent building certification, zero-energy certification, and green building certification, aiming to minimize energy consumption throughout the building’s lifecycle.
The final winner will be granted the rights for basic and detailed design, and prize money totaling 100 million KRW will be distributed among the winning entries. BMC plans to proceed with the design process immediately upon signing the service contract, apply for permits within the year, and aims to start construction next year.
Shin Chang-ho, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, said, “We appreciate the efforts of all participating companies who submitted various proposals to build the game industry infrastructure in the Busan area. We will do our best to swiftly promote the project so that it can become an anchor facility landmark for the game industry.”
