Kang Mingu, the regional committee chairman of the Democratic Party in Suseong-gu Gap, was appointed as the vice president of the Democratic Research Institute on the 17th. This is the first case for a Democratic Party politician from Daegu.
The Democratic Research Institute is the Democratic Party's think tank that researches policies for improving the quality of life of the people, realizing a peaceful and prosperous peace regime on the Korean Peninsula, and developing party politics that represent the interests of the majority of the people. It is a leading research institution in the progressive camp. Currently, the chairman of the Democratic Research Institute is party leader Lee Jae-myung, and the president is Lee Han-ju, a distinguished professor of economics at Gachon University who designed and proposed the 'basic income policy.'
Kang Mingu, the regional committee chairman of Suseong-gu Gap, being appointed as vice president of the Democratic Research Institute following his role as a supreme council member, appears to reflect the Democratic Party leadership's interest and commitment to supporting Daegu.
Kang Mingu, vice president of the Democratic Research Institute, stated, “I will do my best to represent the voices of citizens regarding Daegu’s poor economic situation and political sphere, and to convey and realize various policies for Daegu’s development within the Democratic Party.”
