Ministry of SMEs and Startups Supports Technology Commercialization of Deep Tech Startups with Government-Funded Research Institutes

'Super Gap Technology Commercialization Meeting' Held
Minister Oh Young-joo: "Rapid Technological Progress... Active Support Needed"

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) will support the technology commercialization of deep-tech startups in collaboration with government-funded research institutes.


On the 17th, MSS held a meeting at the Haedong Information Hall of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) with leading startups in robotics, bio (new drugs), and aerospace sectors, as well as host organizations including the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, to discuss plans for technology commercialization, presentations of successful cases, and support policies.

This meeting was organized to discuss support measures for technology commercialization so that deep-tech startups, together with leading government-funded research institutes supporting technology commercialization, can develop creative ideas into new technologies, create new markets, innovate existing industries, and achieve economic and social outcomes.


After the meeting, Minister Oh Young-joo of MSS toured the robotics laboratories, including the Advanced Manufacturing Intelligence Innovation Center testbed at KAIST, and discussed with on-site researchers ways to commercialize new technologies in the robotics field.


Minister Oh stated, "The deep-tech sector experiences very rapid technological advancement and continuous market expansion, making commercialization support essential for securing a global market lead," and added, "We will actively promote related policies so that deep-tech startups can quickly commercialize technologies by utilizing the infrastructure and core technologies possessed by government-funded research institutes."
