A photo contest to capture the beauty of the plum blossoms at Hwaeomsa Temple in Gurye, Jeollanam-do, which are designated as a Natural Monument, will be held in Gurye, Jeollanam-do.
According to Hwaeomsa Temple on the 17th, the 5th Hwaeomsa Red Plum Blossom and Wild Plum Blossom Photo Contest will be held from March 10 to 30 under the slogan "Hwaeom! Embracing the Fragrance of Red Plum Blossoms."

Entries will be judged in two categories: professional photography and mobile phone photography, and each participant is limited to two entries.
Judging will be based on artistry (30 points), practicality (30 points), relevance to the contest theme (20 points), and originality (20 points), for a total of 100 points.
In the case of a tie, rankings will be determined in order of higher scores in artistry and then practicality, and if scores are still identical, the final ranking will be decided by the internal judging committee.
Copyrights for entries and winning works will belong to Hwaeomsa Temple and Gurye-gun.
The announcement of winners will be made at 9 a.m. on April 21 via the Hwaeomsa Temple website and BBS Buddhist Broadcasting System.
The awards ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on May 5, Buddha's Birthday, at Gakhwangjeon Hall of Hwaeomsa Temple.
Since the photo contest began in 2021, it has gained popularity, attracting a total of 500,000 visitors over four years, including 255,000 last year alone.
Hwaeomsa Temple expects more than 300,000 visitors during this year's contest period and asks visitors to join in the protection of national treasures, treasures, and natural monuments.
