Cheonan City's Population Increased by 7,219 Last Year... Approaching 700,000 Cheonan City Total Population Chart.

The population increase in Cheonan, Chungnam last year reached its highest level in five years, with the city on the verge of surpassing 700,000 residents.

As of the end of December last year, the city's population stood at 697,299, an increase of 7,219 people (1.05%) compared to the previous year. This figure is 2.4 times higher than the average annual increase over the past five years (2,926 people).

The city cited the development of industrial complexes, attraction of businesses, expansion of youth employment, improved living conditions, and an increase in foreign workers and international students as the main drivers of population growth.

Cheonan plans to implement a 'Cheonan-style population policy' with the goal of quickly reaching a resident population of 700,000 and a daytime population of 2 million.

In a population policy demand survey conducted last year among 1,562 citizens, support for pregnancy and childbirth (41.9%) was cited as the most important policy area, with high interest also shown in youth housing support (54.1%) and newlywed housing support (78.6%).

The city will hold a Population Policy Advisory Committee meeting this month to finalize its implementation plan and expand population education to include the general public.

Mayor Park Sangdon stated, "We will continue to develop effective policies that reflect the opinions of our citizens."
