"66 Schools in the Province Affected...
Ensuring Safe Meal Facilities"
Park Wonjong, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Council (Democratic Party of Korea, Yeonggwang 1), raised the need to support cleaning service costs for non-cooking meal schools during the Jeonnam Office of Education's report at the 387th temporary session.
According to Park on the 17th, currently 66 elementary, middle, and high schools in Jeonnam Province provide non-cooking meals, receiving meals delivered from cooking schools.
Park pointed out, "As the number of students declines, the number of non-cooking meal schools is expected to increase. While cooking schools receive support for cleaning their meal facilities, non-cooking schools lack staff for meal facility management, resulting in insufficient cleaning and hygiene management."
He also emphasized, "With a decrease in the number of teaching staff, teachers at small schools are experiencing increased workloads. Measures should be prepared to reduce their burden, and policy support is needed to ensure clean and safe meal facilities at non-cooking schools."
In response, Park Jaehyun, Director of the Department of Physical Education and Health, stated, "We will work to improve non-cooking meal facilities through regular budget support so that students can eat in a clean environment."
