On the 17th, 37 trainees who completed all courses at the Jeju Fire Academy were officially appointed as firefighters. After diligently finishing 24 weeks of specialized training, they are now beginning the important duty of protecting the lives and safety of Jeju residents.

The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire Safety Headquarters held the 39th New Firefighter Appointment Ceremony at Samda Hall in the provincial government building on the morning of the 17th. Governor Oh Younghoon personally presented the appointment certificates to the 37 new firefighters.

The newly appointed firefighters entered the Jeju Fire Academy in September last year and completed a systematic 21-week curriculum, covering basic skills in fire, rescue, and emergency medical services, as well as hands-on field training such as fire drills and tactical exercises.

In addition, to ensure they were ready to be deployed to the field immediately upon appointment, they participated in a three-week practical training at fire stations starting in January this year, learning on-site response know-how from senior firefighters and gaining real-world experience.

At the appointment ceremony, Governor Oh Younghoon encouraged the new firefighters, saying, "Your dignified appearance will serve as a strong foundation for the residents to live safer and healthier lives," and added, "I hope your lives as firefighters will shine even brighter in the process."

He especially mentioned the case of firefighters who successfully assisted with an emergency childbirth in a 119 ambulance on the 16th and safely transported the mother and baby to the hospital. He said, "Never forget that firefighters are a source of comfort and hope for the residents. Please do your best in your assigned duties," and added, "The Jeju provincial government will always be on your team."

The 37 new firefighters will be immediately assigned to the Jeju Fire Station, Seogwipo Fire Station, and the Eastern and Western Fire Stations, where they will carry out their duties to protect the lives and property of local residents.
