Gyeongbok University has published a research paper analyzing the educational effects of AI-based digital textbooks in an international academic journal.
On the 15th, Gyeongbok University announced that the research paper analyzing the educational effects of AI-based digital textbooks, conducted as an innovation support project supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) and the Ministry of Education, was recently published in the international academic journal Applied Sciences.

This study is the first to apply AI-based digital textbooks in the domestic university education field, and it is evaluated to have contributed to enhancing the university’s prestige by gaining international recognition for its credibility.

The paper focuses on analyzing the impact of AI-based digital textbooks on learners’ self-regulated learning (SRL) and verifying their effectiveness compared to traditional teaching methods.
The research results showed that students using AI textbooks had positive experiences in setting individual learning paths and improving self-directed learning abilities, and it was analyzed that AI-based personalized learning could open new possibilities for university education.
Kim Jeong-su, Dean of Academic Affairs at Gyeongbok University, stated, "This study is an important first step in exploring the possibility of integrating AI technology into university education," adding, "It demonstrates that AI-based learning tools can contribute to increasing students’ learning engagement."
He also added, "Continuous research is needed to address challenges such as data security issues, algorithmic bias, and digital accessibility gaps discovered during the research process."
Based on this study, Gyeongbok University plans to continuously develop teaching methods utilizing AI-based digital textbooks.
