Total Subscriptions Rise 13%...
"Conversational Consultation Services to Launch This Year"
KB Kookmin Card's usage of generative artificial intelligence (AI) subscription services increased about fourfold over the past year. This year, the company plans to introduce conversational financial consultation services such as card product comparisons. KB Financial Group affiliates will apply the group’s generative AI platform to their operations in April, enhancing security.
On the 16th, KB Kookmin Card announced that an analysis of its credit and check card subscription services last year showed a 12.9% increase in usage and a 17.1% increase in spending compared to the previous year.
Among the 10 types of subscription services, generative AI showed the highest growth rate at 299%, increasing about fourfold in one year. Customers who subscribed to generative AI subscription services tended to use them for more than six months rather than just one month. The proportion of customers using the service for 7 to 12 months was 28%, higher than the 24% for one-month users.
Following generative AI, lifestyle and health subscriptions increased by 59%, shopping and delivery memberships by 34%, and news and magazines by 32%.
By age group, 30s accounted for the largest share of subscription service customers at 24%, followed by 40s at 23%, 20s at 22%, 50s at 20%, and 60 and older at 11%.
A survey of 800 male and female customers aged 25 to 54 living in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon found that 67% use video streaming services. Respondents subscribing to shopping and delivery memberships accounted for 61%.
When looking at the number of subscription services by age, younger customers subscribed to more services. Customers aged 25 to 29 used an average of 7.3 subscriptions, while those aged 50 to 54 subscribed to only 4.5.
A KB Kookmin Card official said, "The subscription service market is rapidly growing, especially in generative AI services. We will analyze in-depth data to understand consumer trends across various industries and market demand changes."
KB Kookmin Card said it will launch conversational financial consultation services this year, including card product comparisons and usage inquiries. Previously, in December last year, KB Kookmin Card’s generative AI service, 'Modu-ui Card Saenghwal Mate' (Everyone’s Card Life Mate), was designated as an innovative financial service by the Financial Services Commission, marking a first in the card industry.
KB Financial affiliates also plan to introduce innovative financial services this year, such as the 'Financial Consultation Agent' (banking) and 'AI Integrated Financial Platform Kavi' (securities). KB Financial will open the 'Group Joint Generative AI Platform' in April, applying generative AI to operations to strengthen security.
