On the 14th, Hong Kong media including Hong Kong 01 reported that Fang Lixin announced his marriage to his girlfriend Ye Xuan (Maple’s real name) on Valentine’s Day. The couple has already completed their marriage registration. Fang Lixin posted on Instagram, “I got married here. Happy Valentine’s Day,” along with a photo containing the phrase, “Maple, will you marry me?” Fang Lixin revealed his relationship with Maple in 2023, the same year the Netflix documentary ‘I Am a God,’ which dealt with the allegations of sexual assault by Jeong Myeong-seok against female believers, was released and caused a stir in Korean society.

On the same day, Kim Do-hyung, a professor at Dankook University who has been informing about Jeong’s sexual assault crimes and helping victims, posted on a caf? used by former JMS believers that “Fang Lixin, Maple’s husband, held a press conference in Hong Kong today to officially announce their marriage.” The two met several months before the release of ‘I Am a God’ and watched the entire trial process against Jeong together. Professor Kim expressed joy, saying, “Maple risked everything to prevent other victims,” and “She put the devil-like Jeong Myeong-seok and his accomplices in prison, and not only returned to a happy daily life but also met a wonderful husband and built a beautiful family.”

Jo Sung-hyun, the producer of ‘I Am a God,’ also wrote, “Maple’s husband is a caring and loving man who stays by her side and watches over the surroundings even in places that seem completely safe,” and added, “I hope this miraculous yet natural story that happened to Maple becomes the story of all other survivors who left the group.”

Maple appeared in the documentary ‘I Am a God’ herself, revealing her real name and face and exposing the facts of her victimization. The recordings she disclosed in the documentary were also adopted as key evidence in Jeong’s trial. On the 10th of last month, the Supreme Court’s 2nd Division upheld the original sentence of 17 years imprisonment for Jeong, who was charged with quasi-rape and quasi-indecent assault. The court also confirmed the 15-year electronic monitoring order, as well as 10-year orders for information disclosure, notification, and employment restrictions.
