On the 13th, Dangjin City in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 14th that it held an "Emergency Video Conference for Steel Industry Cities" together with Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province and Pohang City in North Gyeongsang Province to overcome the crisis facing the steel industry.

This meeting was urgently convened to address the crisis currently facing Korea's steel industry, such as the recent sudden announcement of steel tariffs by the United States, and to promote stability in the local economy.

As Dangjin, Gwangyang, and Pohang are Korea's leading steel industry cities and the steel sector accounts for a significant portion of their local economies, there are growing concerns about the negative impact on the overall regional economy if the crisis persists.

Amid this sense of crisis, each local government shared the understanding through the meeting that this is not an issue limited to a specific region but a national problem, and agreed on the need for close mutual cooperation. They also decided to coordinate detailed response measures together.

Meanwhile, Dangjin City stated that it will actively gather opinions from local companies to overcome the steel industry crisis.
