The food cost has been raised by 10.4% from the previous year, setting the average support amount per student for elementary, middle, and high schools at 4,303 won (elementary 3,760 won, middle/special 4,490 won, high 4,660 won).
Additionally, for the first time this year, meal operation expenses that were previously provided to private kindergartens will be extended to some public annexed kindergartens, with each school receiving 33 million won. The beneficiaries are annexed kindergartens at 40 small elementary schools with 300 or fewer students.
The city office of education plans to gradually expand the support to all public kindergartens in the Gwangju area.
Furthermore, the 'School Meal Global DAY', which was launched last year, will continue this year with all schools participating once a month. 'School Meal Global DAY' is an event that serves representative dishes from various countries through school meals.
In addition, the number of pesticide residue inspections for food ingredients will be increased to ensure the safe supply of meals.
