Gwangju Dong-gu Launches 'Only Dong-gu' Integrated Community Project Exterior view of Gwangju Dong-gu Office.

Gwangju Dong-gu (District Mayor Lim Taek) announced on the 14th that it is recruiting communities to participate in the "2025 Only Dong-gu Community Support Integrated Public Contest Project" to create a sustainable community where residents take the initiative in solving local issues.

This project is being carried out by four departments: the Community Autonomy Division, Humanities City Policy Division, Gender Equality and Children Division, and Health Policy Division. The goal is to prevent duplicate selections among communities and to operate the public contest process efficiently and transparently by integrating the review process.

The Community Autonomy Division will operate in six areas: ▲Formation of community groups ▲Community assembly agendas ▲Autonomous agendas ▲Communication rooms ▲Specialized village Sarangchae ▲Activation of village Sarangchae.

The Humanities City Policy Division will support program development (lifelong learning clubs), the Gender Equality and Children Division will support the Dong-gu style women-friendly village "Dong-gu Manse Gender-Equal Village" project, and the Health Policy Division will support various community projects through the "Creating a Healthy Village" public contest.

For more details and application methods for the 2025 Only Dong-gu Community Support Integrated Public Contest Project, please refer to the Dong-gu District Office website. The application period is open until the 21st.

Previously, Dong-gu held a preliminary resident briefing session to enhance residents' understanding and discover competent projects, and from the 11th to the 20th, it has been supporting communities in establishing business plans through prior consulting.

Lim Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, "Community projects are an important process in which residents themselves lead changes in their neighborhoods," and added, "We will support more residents to participate so that our villages can grow into vibrant communities."
