Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced that it will host the "2025 National University Kendo Winter League" for three days from the 14th to the 16th at the Changnyeong National Sports Center.
This tournament is hosted by the Korea University Kendo Federation, organized by the Changnyeong-gun Kendo Association, and sponsored by Changnyeong-gun. A total of about 200 participants from 14 universities nationwide, including 22 men's teams and 6 women's teams, are expected to participate.
The matches will be held as men's and women's team events, with the preliminary rounds conducted in a league format. Afterwards, the men's division will determine the winner through a knockout stage starting from the quarterfinals, and the women's division from the semifinals.
An official from Changnyeong-gun stated, "As this is the first tournament of 2025, we will prepare the event to ensure that athletes can demonstrate their honed skills to the fullest without any safety accidents."
Meanwhile, Changnyeong-gun has hosted the tournament for four consecutive years and is making efforts to expand the base of kendo and discover talent by attracting numerous national-level kendo competitions every year.
