Professor Lee In-jae (62) from the Department of Economics has been confirmed as the final candidate for the 4th president of the National University of Incheon.
On the 13th, Incheon National University held a board meeting and announced that Professor Lee was selected as the final candidate for the next president. After Professor Lee's policy presentation, a Q&A session was conducted, and the board unanimously confirmed him as the final candidate.
Professor Lee graduated from Incheon High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Law, and earned his Ph.D. in Economics from New York University in the United States. He has been serving as a professor in the Department of Economics at Incheon National University since 2008 and served as the Vice President for External Cooperation in 2023.

Four preliminary candidates, including Professor Lee, ran in this presidential election. Last month, Professor Lim Kyung-hwan (64) from the Department of Life Sciences was eliminated first through an online vote by the policy evaluation team. Subsequently, Professor Choi Byung-gil (64) from the Department of Urban Environmental Engineering and Professor Kang Hyun-chul (66), an emeritus professor, withdrew one after another.
If the board recommends Professor Lee to the Ministry of Education as president, a candidate review will be conducted. Afterward, the Minister of Education will propose the appointment, and the president will appoint the university president.
Current President Park Jong-tae's term ends on May 9, and the term of the next president will be four years starting the following day.
