Seosan City in Chungnam Province is focusing its full efforts on selecting and implementing ten key projects for 2025 to achieve tangible results that citizens can experience.

On the 13th, Seosan City announced that it had identified 34 projects to drive the realization of "Leap Forward Seosan, Livable Seosan," from which ten were selected as core projects. The city will form a task force (T/F) team to push these initiatives forward.

The T/F team will be composed of department heads and external experts. The city plans to closely monitor the progress of the key projects every month, focusing on delivering measurable outcomes.

The ten selected key projects include: ▲Utilizing city-owned land for triple-effect benefits, such as the Seosan Yocheon District Public Parking Lot (Chorok Square groundbreaking) ▲Establishing an R&D foundation for future innovative technologies to create new growth engines ▲Designating Garorim Bay as the nation's first National Marine Ecological Park ▲Advancing the construction of the new Seosan City Hall ▲Promoting green mobility and carbon resource projects to lead K-future industries and eco-friendly carbon neutrality, among others.

Other projects include: ▲Laying the groundwork for the construction of a cultural and arts town as the future of a prestigious cultural city ▲Completing and operating the nation's first eco-friendly experiential tourism-type resource recovery facility ▲Commencing the creation of Gayasan Arboretum, a people-friendly forest with spaces for relaxation ▲Revamping the first impression of Seosan by launching a specialized project for the Seosan and Haemi expressway IC tollgates ▲Easing traffic congestion during rush hours between Seosan and Daesan through bypass roads and responsive traffic signals.

The Yocheon District Public Parking Lot (Chorok Square) project will complete detailed design and the second phase of reviews in the first half of this year, aiming to break ground in the second half with a sense of urgency.

To establish an R&D foundation, the city is making every effort to attract the Seosan branch of the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology to the Buseok-myeon area and to respond to the preliminary feasibility study for the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Comprehensive Demonstration Support Center.

The city is also working to have Garorim Bay listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and is focusing administrative resources on designating Garorim Bay as the nation's first National Marine Ecological Park.

The city hall construction project, which will be responsible for Seosan's long-term future, will complete the remaining administrative procedures such as public architecture review and design competition, and proceed with basic and detailed design services in the second half of this year.

The Carbon Capture and Utilization Demonstration Support Center, which will lead future industry development and carbon neutrality, is scheduled for completion this year, while the Green UAM-AAV Core Component Test and Evaluation Center aims to break ground within the year.

The Cultural and Arts Town, which will cluster six cultural facilities including the National Gugak Center Seosan Branch, Intangible Heritage Training Center, Seosan Cultural Center, City Art Museum, Arts Center, and Literature Hall, will finalize administrative procedures with the goal of starting compensation next year.

The nation's first eco-friendly resource recovery facility linked to experiential tourism and community convenience facilities will be completed this year, helping Seosan become a self-sufficient resource-circulating city. Alongside the Gayasan Natural Recreation Forest, which began construction last year, the arboretum will also break ground, developing Gayasan into a forest welfare complex for all life stages.

In addition, Seosan and Haemi expressway tollgates, the main gateways to the city, will be reborn with designs that reflect local characteristics.

To resolve the long-standing rush hour traffic congestion on National Road 29 toward Daesan, the city will install responsive traffic signals at intersections, expand and widen roads, and build new bypasses.

Mayor Lee Wanseop of Seosan said, "While all pending projects are important, the ten key projects are especially significant as they represent the city's future direction and commitment to development. We will do our utmost to ensure these efforts lead to results that citizens can truly feel."
