RIS Forum and Academic Conference to Be Held on the 17th
A forum and academic conference for the exchange of achievements and information from the 'Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation Project (RIS)' held in Jeju, as well as for the successful connection between RIS and RISE, will be organized for collaboration among local governments, industries, academia, and research institutes.
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Jeju Regional Innovation Platform (Acting General Operations Center Director Kim Namjin, hereafter Jeju RIS) will host the 'Jeju RIS Future New Industry Innovation Local Government-Industry-Academia-Research Forum and Academic Conference' under the theme of "Innovation and Cooperation for Jeju's Sustainable Future" on the 17th at Maison Glad Jeju (Convention Hall).
The forum will be divided into two sessions. The first session will begin with a pre-event and opening ceremony, followed by a keynote lecture by Son Jeongmin, Head of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation at Jeonbuk National University, on the topic of "The Future of Local Government-Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation: Building an Innovation Ecosystem for Regional Development."
The second session will feature a discussion on "Strategies for Local Government-Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation for Successful RIS and RISE Linkage Projects."
Panelists from Jeju Province, Jeju National University, local organizations, and research institutes will present and discuss the direction of RIS and RISE linkage projects, the roles of local and external companies, talent development and regional industry innovation strategies through collaboration, and talent cultivation plans for future new industries.
Alongside the forum, an academic conference will be held to present papers published in academic journals through RIS regional innovation autonomous projects and growth bridge projects.
In addition, a standing networking program will be provided, allowing participants from local governments, companies, universities, and research institutes to freely discuss the linkage of RIS and RISE projects and the development direction of future new industries.
Kim Namjin, Acting General Operations Center Director, stated, "Through this event, we hope to share the achievements of the Jeju RIS project and contribute to the development of Jeju's future new industries by efficiently connecting with the RISE system, which has been fully operational since March this year."
Meanwhile, government university financial support projects such as RIS, LINC3.0 (Industry-Academia Cooperation), LiFE (University Lifelong Education), and HiVE (Professional Vocational Education) have been integrated into RISE, led by local governments since March this year. Jeju Province aims to become a "global K-education and research run-cation city leading the world."
