Taean County in Chungnam is accelerating its efforts to promote future growth industries as part of its mid- to long-term regional development strategy.

According to the county on the 13th, to promote sustainable development this year, it will pursue the following: △ the second phase, second term balanced development project △ fostering future growth industries such as marine leisure and drones △ sustainable urban development and regional revitalization.

In connection with the second phase, second term balanced development project of Chungnam Province, which will be implemented from next year until 2030, the county has secured a total project budget of 77.3 billion KRW for five projects: △ establishing the Malliponia Marine Leisure Tourism Hub City △ Korea's first Sand Museum △ creating a pet service infrastructure △ establishing the Taean-style Drone Innovation Cluster, among others.

The Malliponia Marine Leisure Tourism Hub City project will invest 30 billion KRW in the Mallipo area to build a multi-purpose marine leisure facility with a total floor area of 3,560 square meters, consisting of one basement floor and two above-ground floors. Facilities such as a media facade, wave pool, and infinity pool are planned.

The Sand Museum project, the first of its kind in Korea, will be built in Sinduri with a total project cost of 18 billion KRW, featuring a two-story building with a total floor area of 2,640 square meters. It will be the first dedicated sand sculpture exhibition hall in Korea, equipped with exhibition rooms for sand sculptures, educational and experiential spaces, and convenience facilities, and is expected to become a popular year-round indoor tourism resource.

Additionally, the pet service infrastructure project in Iwon-myeon will invest 30 billion KRW to establish sustainable regional tourism infrastructure through facilities such as a dog playground, swimming pool, and camping site.

The Taean-style Drone Innovation Cluster project, with a budget of 10 billion KRW, will be implemented at Taean County UV Land in Nam-myeon. It is expected to enhance Taean's competitiveness in new industries by linking with the urban air mobility sector.

The county is also focusing on fostering future growth industries such as marine leisure and drones. The 'Malliponia Marine Leisure Safety Education Center' will be built in the Mallipo area, with a total floor area of 4,347 square meters (one basement and two above-ground floors). The center will include a diving pool, swimming pool, and indoor surfing facility. Construction began in March last year, and the structural work is currently underway, with completion targeted for the first half of 2026.

Additionally, the Marine Safety Drone Center, which will serve as a facility for drone and UAM companies within Taean County UV Land, began construction in March this year and is expected to be completed within the year.

The county plans to become a leading city in the drone industry through various efforts, such as striving to be selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's third round of Drone Special Free Zone projects and hosting drone racing competitions and drone art shows.

Furthermore, to promote sustainable urban development and regional revitalization, the county is working to attract the 'CCUS Promotion Center' for eco-friendly technology development, create a complex cultural space, and establish a chrysanthemum theme park at the birthplace of Lee Jongil, among other pioneering projects to drive regional development.

Jeon Jinbong, Director of Strategic Projects, stated, "We will implement core projects to secure future growth engines without setbacks and present a new paradigm for regional development," adding, "Through discovering and promoting various future growth industries to improve the quality of life for residents, we will strive to become a leading city in future industries."
