Sixfold Increase in Golf Reservations to China
Advantage of Relatively Affordable Prices
Hana Tour announced on the 13th that the number of overseas golf reservations through Hana Tour increased by 62% compared to the same period last year.
Looking at the share by detailed regions, Southeast Asia accounted for the largest portion at 62%, followed by China (16%) and Japan (14%). Within Southeast Asia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines were the most popular destinations in that order. In 2023, China accounted for only 4%, following Southeast Asia (68%), Japan (16%), and Guam/Saipan (11%), but last year it held 16%, with the number of reservations increasing about sixfold.
The rapid rise of China as a golf travel destination is attributed to the base effect as well as the expansion of flight routes and available seats. Along with this, reservations for reasonably priced golf packages and golf-tel products have significantly increased. In Southeast Asia, Vietnam more than doubled compared to the previous year, gaining attention as a representative golf travel destination alongside Thailand.
Meanwhile, Hana Tour will hold the 'Hana Tour Global Golf Challenge' next month in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The first tournament will be held in 2025, but this year, competitions will be held quarterly. The event is a 3-night, 5-day schedule departing on the 12th of next month, with the main tournament taking place on the 14th at Ho Tram The Bluffs CC. Participants can enjoy a total of three rounds, including practice and friendly rounds as well as the main round on the day of the tournament.
A Hana Tour official stated, "Due to high inflation and economic recession, interest in relatively affordable golf travel destinations such as Vietnam and China has increased among overseas golf destinations," adding, "We plan to expand practical golf products separately from premium golf products to meet the diverse needs of customers."
