Eunpyeong-gu 'I-Mom Taxi' Expands Service to Infant and Toddler Facilities

The ‘Imom Taxi,’ a transportation service for pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, will be expanded to include public facilities related to young children.

‘Imom Taxi’ is a project first implemented nationwide by Eunpyeong-gu in August 2020 to address low birth rates and protect pregnant women and young children from infections during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has gained popularity, with an average monthly usage of 1,000 rides last year.

With this expansion in Eunpyeong-gu, Imom Taxi can now be used not only to go to hospitals but also to five public facilities related to infants and toddlers within the district in the afternoon. The expanded destinations include the Family Center, Childcare Comprehensive Support Center, Imom Counseling Center, Toy Land, and Seoul-style Kids Cafe.

A major advantage of ‘Imom Taxi’ is that it is an exclusive taxi service available only to pregnant women residing in the district or families with children under 24 months old. Dedicated drivers operate the service, specially considering that pregnant women and infants under 24 months, who are vulnerable to transportation-related risks, need to use it safely without concerns about infectious diseases.

The taxis operate as large vans capable of accommodating large strollers and are equipped with car seats and in-vehicle air purifiers. Daily disinfection of the vehicle interior is mandatory, ensuring thorough safety and quarantine management.

Eligible users can use the service free of charge up to 10 times per year. To apply, users must sign up as members on the ‘Imom Taxi’ application and make reservations online in advance. Additionally, functions have been improved this time, such as continuously displaying voucher usage details and extending the submission deadline for usage verification documents from one day to 14 days.

Imom Taxi also allows long-distance rides to 14 general hospitals in the Seoul area, providing significant benefits to users who need to regularly visit large hospitals.
