Gyeongsang National University Holds Jo Woo Dong Scholarship Foundation Certificate Awarding Ceremony

Scholarships of 3 Million KRW Awarded
to Children from Multicultural Families

Gyeongsang National University held the “2024 Second Semester Jo Woo Dong Scholarship Foundation Certificate Awarding Ceremony” at 11:00 a.m. on February 12 in the university headquarters reception room at the Gajwa Campus.

This scholarship program has been operated since October 2015 through an agreement between the former Gyeongnam National University of Science and Technology and the Jo Woo Dong Scholarship Foundation, under which a total donation of 2.3 billion KRW was entrusted to the Community Chest of Korea (Sarangui Yeolmae). To date, scholarships totaling 806 million KRW have been awarded to 148 recipients.

The Jo Woo Dong Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships to children from multicultural families enrolled at Gyeongsang National University. Students who meet both academic and income requirements receive a living expense scholarship of 3 million KRW each semester, making the program especially meaningful.

The ceremony was held in a simple manner, attended by about 20 people, including Ha Jaepil, Dean of Student Affairs, university headquarters executives, Jo Sooheon, President of the Jo Woo Dong Scholarship Foundation (Professor Emeritus at Seoul National University College of Medicine), his spouse, and scholarship recipients for the second semester of 2024.

After the awarding of the scholarship certificates, three selected scholarship recipients read aloud handwritten letters of gratitude and presented them to the Jo Woo Dong Scholarship Foundation, moving the attendees with their heartfelt appreciation.
