Emart announced on February 13 that its warehouse discount store, Traders Wholesale Club (Traders), will open its 23rd location, the Magok branch, in the Gangseo area of Seoul on February 14.

The Traders Magok branch is the first new store opening in 14 months, following the Suwon Hwaseo branch (the 22nd store), which opened in December 2023. It is the second Traders location in Seoul, following the Wolgye branch (the 16th store, opened in March 2019). It is also the first warehouse discount store in the Gangseo area of Seoul and the first large-scale supermarket to open in the Magok New Town area.

The area surrounding the Traders Magok branch is home to approximately 1.24 million residents within a 6-kilometer radius, including Magok New Town. The area boasts excellent transportation infrastructure and a well-developed office district, making it a key commercial zone with a large residential and floating population. Expanding the radius to 8 kilometers increases the resident population to over 2 million. The proportion of 3-4 person households (31.5%) and the 40-50 age group, who are the main customers of large supermarkets (32.3%), are both higher than the Seoul average of 29.2% and 30.8%, respectively.

The store is easily accessible via Olympic-daero and Gonghang-daero, as well as public transportation, including subway lines 5 and 9. Taking into account the large number of core customers and the significant floating population, Traders designed the Magok branch to be the largest among all current Traders locations, with a total floor area of 11,636 square meters (approximately 3,520 pyeong). This is more than 10% larger than the Hanam branch, which currently ranks first in overall store sales.

Traders also plans to open another store in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon in the second half of this year. The company aims to drive overall growth for Emart through continued store expansion in the future.

Enhanced Roadshows and Generous Grand Opening Promotions

The Traders Magok branch aims to provide customers with an enjoyable shopping experience and special benefits through exclusive products and specialized roadshows. First, the store has strengthened its "roadshow" events. Thirteen dedicated roadshow spaces have been set up throughout the store, featuring a wide range of products from food items such as jelly and wagyu beef to toys from Bandai Namco and gaming products from Logitech.

As an exclusive product, the store will offer a limited quantity of "Kim Changsu Whisky Single Cask 51.8 (700ml)" produced by Kim Changsu Whisky at 239,800 KRW. In addition, for the Magok branch's grand opening, the store has secured the largest-ever stock of premium whiskies such as Hibiki and Macallan for a single location.

In consideration of the area's status as a major office district, the store has also expanded its selection of office supplies. From the lowest-priced essentials like standing desks, keyboards, mice, and batteries to snacks and commercial-grade large-capacity refrigerators, a wide variety of office products are available.

The T-Cafe will also open as the largest of its kind, covering 562 square meters (about 170 pyeong). The T-Cafe alone offers more than 100 seats, and including round tables, it can accommodate over 120 customers. The T-Cafe is popular for its large 45cm pizza priced in the upper 10,000 KRW range, value-for-money pho made with domestic chicken, cheese oven-baked spaghetti, and unlimited refills of carbonated drinks.

To celebrate the opening, the Traders Magok branch will hold a meat discount event from February 14 to 22. In addition, home appliances, daily necessities, and private brand (PB) products will also be available at special prices.
