This camp, conducted as an SW basic education program under the ‘SW-Centered University Project’ by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP), was held from February 3 to February 6 in each university’s lab, with about 80 prospective freshmen participating regardless of their major to strengthen their basic SW·AI capabilities.

Each university provided participants with an intensive 3-day hands-on education focused on Adalo-based no-code development, and on the final day of education, February 6, a hackathon competition was held jointly by the universities where teams developed app projects, offering opportunities for discussion and presentations on thematic and learning problems.

At the hackathon held at the ELICE Lab Busan Center, the ‘Jeong Iminchu’ team from Pukyong National University and the ‘PILLFROG’ team from Pusan National University won the grand prize, with a total of eight teams receiving awards in four categories.

Professor Song Ha-ju, Director of the Software Convergence Innovation Center at Pukyong National University, said, “Through this camp, we hope that prospective freshmen had the opportunity to experience university life in advance and build their basic SW capabilities before admission, motivating them to find challenges and ideas.” He added, “In particular, we will continue to expand cooperative programs that allow the two universities to experience the value of academic exchange and collaboration between universities, contributing to the spread of SW value in the local community.”

Pukyong National University, as a regional hub university in Busan, established the Software Convergence Innovation Center with the goal of nurturing SW talent and expanding the base of SW education. It focuses on strengthening SW major education, operating SW convergence courses, providing SW education for non-majors, and industry-academia cooperation projects.

Following this year’s event, the program plans to annually provide SW education programs for prospective university students to contribute to nurturing convergence talents required in future society.
