Yuhan-Kimberly Confirms Greenhouse Gas Reduction in Hand Towel Resource Circulation... Accelerating ESG

Yuhan-Kimberly evaluated the environmental impact of the collection, sorting, and compression processes of used hand towels and then compared and analyzed this with the environmental impact of the existing disposal methods. As a result, it was confirmed that recycling 10 tons of used hand towels through the Bi-Cycle campaign can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 10.35 tons CO2 eq compared to the existing incineration method.

LCA is a method that quantitatively and comprehensively analyzes and evaluates the environmental impact across all stages from raw material extraction, manufacturing, distribution, use, disposal, to recycling of products and services. This LCA was conducted according to international standards and was third-party verified by the global professional organization SGS Korea. Based on the derived effects, Yuhan-Kimberly plans to expand participating organizations and companies within the industry and accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

A Yuhan-Kimberly official stated, "It is significant that we empirically demonstrated that the greenhouse gas reduction effect of hand towel recycling is meaningful compared to the existing method of incineration after disposal," adding, "We will continue to practice solidarity efforts with various stakeholders who share the purpose of reducing carbon emissions through resource circulation."
