People Power Party on 'Myeong Taegyun Special Prosecutor Law': "Special Prosecutor Addiction... No Worth Considering"

People Power Party on 'Myeong Taegyun Special Prosecutor Law': "Special Prosecutor Addiction... No Worth Considering"

The People Power Party stated that the 'Myeong Taegyun Special Prosecutor Act' proposed by the six opposition parties is "not even worth considering."

Spokesperson Kim Ki-heung criticized on the 11th in a commentary, saying, "The Democratic Party's addiction to special prosecutors is at an incurable level," and asked, "Is the only thing on the minds of Democratic Party members special prosecutors and impeachment?"

He added, "Even if the Democratic Party wraps the so-called 'Myeong Taegyun Special Prosecutor' in a third-party recommendation package, since the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office is currently conducting a strong investigation into the Myeong Taegyun-related suspicions, a separate special prosecutor is not worth considering."

Floor spokesperson Kim Dae-sik told reporters, "This is the 24th special prosecutor (pursued by the Democratic Party since the Yoon Seok-yeol administration began)," and said, "I have no intention of protecting Myeong Taegyun, but a special prosecutor that only changes the packaging has no real meaning."

When asked whether the party would oppose the special prosecutor law as a party stance, Floor spokesperson Kim said, "We will review it in detail and discuss it at the floor countermeasure meeting."

Regarding the interpretation that the Democratic Party proposed this special prosecutor bill targeting ruling party presidential hopefuls such as Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, he drew a line, saying, "If there had been any relationship or involvement between ruling party hopefuls and Mr. Myeong during the investigation process, it would have come out to some extent by now," and "There is no clear story yet."

People Power Party floor spokesperson Seo Ji-young criticized, "As public anger over the Democratic Party's atrocities fills the streets, now the Democratic Party is trying to drag in Myeong Taegyun, whom they once dismissed as a 'nonentity,' to create chaos," and added, "After lawmakers Park Ju-min and Park Beom-gye, who were endorsed by Myeong Taegyun, visited prison multiple times, it is only suspicious that a collusion between Myeong Taegyun and the Democratic Party has begun."

Meanwhile, former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min expressed support for the Myeong Taegyun Special Prosecutor Act in an interview on the SisaIN YouTube channel the previous day. Yoo said, "It's really the first time I've seen a suspect (Mr. Myeong) who was taken to a detention center ask for a special prosecutor himself," and added, "I think a special prosecutor is warranted."
