Promotion of 33 Projects Including "Support for High-Quality Seed Garlic on Gaeuido Island"
Taean County in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 11th that it will invest a total of 5.9 billion KRW this year in 33 projects across seven sectors, including fruit trees, greenhouse horticulture, and floriculture, to focus on fostering the horticultural and special crop sectors.
This support project aims to enhance the regional competitiveness of the horticultural and special crop sectors and to increase the productivity and income of local farmers. The county invested 3.6 billion KRW in 26 projects in 2023 and over 5.1 billion KRW in 32 projects last year. This year, both the number of projects and the budget have been increased to improve effectiveness.
In particular, the county will focus on projects tailored to regional characteristics and those that have received strong support from farmers, such as: △support for labor-saving machines dedicated to fruit cultivation (fruit tree sector), △support for the distribution of smart farms to small and medium-sized horticultural farms (greenhouse horticulture sector), △strengthening the competitiveness of floriculture production infrastructure (floriculture sector), △support for high-quality seed garlic on Gaeuido Island (garlic sector), and △support for rain shelter cultivation facilities for peppers (pepper sector).
The county plans to ensure that as many farms as possible benefit from the projects, and will supply the necessary agricultural materials for each farm and crop in a timely manner to maximize utilization. For facility and equipment support projects, the county will actively utilize the agricultural subsidy database.
In addition, the county will thoroughly manage the projects by fully reflecting the characteristics and management periods of each crop, setting implementation directions for each project, and increasing the implementation rate to ensure the successful completion of the projects.
A county official stated, "With the expansion of support projects in the horticultural and special crop sectors this year, we expect local farmers to benefit even more," and added, "We will continue to make various efforts to develop agriculture, the region's core industry, and to improve the quality of life for farmers."
