The governor of Taean County, Chungcheongnam-do, received the Excellence Award in the field of autonomous administration at the 'Democratic Party Local Autonomy Awards' ceremony held at the National Assembly Library Grand Auditorium on the 10th.

Hosted and organized by the Democratic Research Institute and the Korea Policy Management Institute, the 'Democratic Party Local Autonomy Awards' were established to evaluate and encourage the achievements of local autonomy, marking the 30th anniversary of the local autonomy system.

Governor Ga was recognized for several initiatives implemented during the 7th and 8th terms, including the Visiting Oriental Medicine Doctor Program for Senior Centers, the Senior Nutrition Plus Program, the establishment of the Family Empathy Center, the introduction of the Direct Election System for Village Leaders, and the establishment of the Town and Township Disabled Sports Association.

The Visiting Oriental Medicine Doctor Program for Senior Centers is a project that provides customized health services such as acupuncture treatment, blood pressure and diabetes checks, and various consultations by visiting a total of 230 senior centers from 2022 to 2026. Each senior center is visited at least four times a month, receiving positive feedback from residents.

The Senior Nutrition Plus Program, which provides 100,000 won in points every month to health-vulnerable residents aged 85 and older, is also receiving favorable responses. The Taean County Family Empathy Center, recognized as the nation's top complex cultural space, surpassed 10,000 cumulative users within just over a month after its opening in October last year, gaining significant popularity.

The Direct Election System for Village Leaders, a representative policy of the 7th term of Taean County and a successful case of grassroots democracy, as well as the launch of the nation's first Town and Township Disabled Sports Association to guarantee sports activities and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, are also being recognized as outstanding examples of local autonomy.

Taean County Governor Ga Se-ro said, "I am pleased that our achievements over the past six years to improve residents' welfare have been recognized," and added, "I will continue to work closely with residents, actively engaging in the field and working diligently for regional development."
